Megan and Darnel. Quite possibly the most chill couple I think I've ever photographed on a wedding day. Between the Pride Parade beginning just outside the doors of the church where they tied the knot, to the downpour of rain (no jokes - the most rain I've ever dealt with on a wedding day!), nothing phased them. The thing most important to them was simply the part when they got married. Obviously this does not dismiss other elements of a wedding - beautiful bouquets, a yummy supper to be shared with family, gorgeous bridal portraits, and a banging party among many other things. But the most important part is the point in the day when a couple vows to love and keep each other from this day forward until always. I am so grateful and truly honoured to have documented this day for them. I imagine someday in the very distant future Megan will say to Darnel, “Even after all this time?", and he of course will respond with "Always.”
All sappy and serious notes aside, I had a fantastic time on this day with these two seriously in love souls. I have been photographing weddings for just over 5 years now, and still managed to have some firsts at this one - including wearing a veil (which I took absolutely no pleasure in at alll - not even a little ;) ), and taking family photos in a KFC Drive-thru! Hey - you gotta work with your surroundings!
Megan and Darnel didn’t just plan a wedding, this was something so much greater than that and I know that everyone present could feel it.
